Merry Christmas from Rev. John and Laura Hice…
…and we mean it.
We live in the hope of Emmanuel: “God with us.” Into a world gripped by unrest and disease, this hope was born; we believe in the promise of God’s presence today and bright hope for tomorrow. We can face whatever confronts us.
That was the angelic message over and over again that first Christmas. It seems a good message for this time as well!
Do not be afraid.
Emmanuel, God is with us!
To Zechariah (John the Baptist’s father):
But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John.
Luke 1:13 NIV
To Mary (soon-to-be mother of Jesus):
But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.
Luke 1:30-31 NIV
To Joseph (soon-to-be earthly father of Jesus):
But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
Matthew 1:20-21 NIV
To the shepherds:
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.
Luke 2:10-11 NIV
We wish you God’s encouragement this Christmas and throughout the New Year.
